SCOPE OF APPLICATION

  • Specifies safety requirements for lashing straps made from man-made fibers with woven flat tapes for multiple uses, and for combinations of lashings with woven tapes intended for the safe surface transport of goods on road vehicles, e.g. trucks and trailers used on roads, or placed on ships or in railroad wagons and/or combinations of these;
  • includes only tensioning devices that are operated with a maximum manual force of 500 N;
  • specifies test methods for lashing straps for load securing;
  • addresses the significant risks that could occur during the use of the lashing straps and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer
  • also includes composite load securing devices for the same purpose as above.

USE AND STORAGE

  • Load securing belts should be stored in a clean, dry and ventilated place. At room temperature (e.g. on shelves) always away from heat sources, contact with chemicals, fumes, corrosive surfaces, direct sunlight or other sources of ultraviolet radiation.
  • Before storing and storing the lashing belts, they should be inspected for any damage that may have occurred during use. If the belts are damaged, they should not be stored with the other belts.
  • In case the lashing belts have come into contact with acids and/or alkaline agents, dissolution in water or neutralization with suitable means is recommended before storage. In case of doubt always remove from service.
  • Ties that have become wet during use, or as a result of cleaning, should be hung and dried naturally.
