Tips
- Make sure that the vehicle is appropriate for the goods being transported.
- Verify that the loading platform and interior bodywork of the vehicle are clean, in good condition and undamaged.
- Determine the optimum loading equipment needed for the goods being transported. Determine which form of lashing is best suited to the goods being transported (friction, loop, direct pull).
- Determine the number and type of lashing straps and/or chains needed to optimally secure the cargo.
- Determine the number of anti-slip and other materials to optimally secure the cargo.
- Do not exceed the maximum authorized load for the entire vehicle.
- Distribute loads according to the permitted axle load.
- Arrange the load optimally. Place the goods according to the intended order of unloading, whenever possible.
- Check the load securing regularly during the trip if necessary.
- Check the load after emergency braking or any abnormal situation by stopping at a designated place.
- Each time a load is unloaded and/or has been redistributed, check the securing devices again.
- Drive carefully and adapt the speed to the traffic circumstances to avoid violent changes of direction orsudden braking.
- Avoid any usable free space between different
loads.
- Make sure that the securing material distributes the forces exerted by the load as evenly as possible.
- Make sure that all straps are securely fastened according to an optimum fastening angle.
- Check that the fastening material is in good condition and free of defects.
- Make sure that the clamping material is correctly and legibly marked.
- Make sure that the securing device does not damage the transported goods and vice versa (the use of protection angles is recommended).
